According to the employees and unions, the Union of Bank of India is facing several issues like staffing shortages, recruitment patterns, work-life balance, transfer policy deviations, and compassionate appointments. In this context, various unions called for a nationwide strike. The nationwide strike led by the Joint Forum of Union Bank Unions took place on 27 September had a significant participation across India. Almost 10 states were affected severely. In West Bengal, Odisha & Kerala, almost 90% of branches were closed due to the call of agitation.
The state of Kerala witnessed significant impact and participation in the strike. The services were disrupted in the state, where All India Union Bank Employees Federation(AIUBEF) has a greater presence.
