AIIDBIOA National Conference Resolves to Intensify Resistance Against IDBI Bank Privatisation
The third national conference of AIIDBIOA held in Bangalore on 26–27 April 2025 focused on workplace issues and the ongoing privatisation threat.

The All India IDBI Bank Officers’ Association (AIIDBIOA) concluded its third national conference in Bangalore on 26–27 April 2025, reaffirming its commitment to resist the privatisation of IDBI Bank. Around 180 delegates from across the country participated in discussions on key challenges faced by employees and the institution.

Focus on Privatisation and National Interest
A major highlight of the conference was the resolution to intensify the ongoing campaign against the divestment of IDBI Bank. The association emphasised that as a Development Financial Institution (DFI), IDBI Bank plays a vital role in the country's economic development. It was asserted that retaining IDBI Bank in the public sector is crucial for safeguarding national interest and maintaining developmental financing support.

Workplace Issues Discussed
In addition to the privatisation issue, concerns regarding growing work pressure, deteriorating working conditions, and toxic work culture were deliberated at length. Around 30 delegates shared their experiences highlighting these issues and the adverse impact on employee well-being and efficiency. The conference resolved to collectively address these challenges and work towards building a more equitable and supportive workplace environment within the bank.

Call for Wider Solidarity
The AIIDBIOA conference called upon all banking sector employees and the general public to support the struggle to preserve the public sector character of IDBI Bank. The association urged broader solidarity, stressing that the fight is not merely about employees' interests but also about protecting an institution that has historically contributed to national development.

Ongoing Agitation Plans
As per the resolutions adopted, the association plans to intensify its agitation efforts in coordination with other employee unions under the United Forum of IDBI Unions. Future programmes of action will aim to mobilise public opinion against the privatisation move and highlight the strategic importance of keeping IDBI Bank in public ownership.

New Leadership Elected
During the conference, new office bearers of AIIDBIOA were elected. Saurav Kumar was chosen as the President, while Vitthal Koteswara Rao was elected as the General Secretary. The newly elected leadership reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen the ongoing struggle against privatisation and address workplace challenges faced by the employees. Banking Union leaders from Karnataka and several other fraternal organisations felicitated the conference.
