The All India Bank of Baroda Officers’ Association (AIBOBOA), Ernakulam Zone, has issued a strong appeal to the management of Bank of Baroda, drawing attention to what it calls a “serious decline” in workplace culture. The union has expressed concern about growing stress, unrealistic targets, and the lack of respect shown towards officers.
In its letter to the General Manager of the zone, the association said that the relationship between executives at controlling offices and officers at branches has been steadily worsening. Officers are facing continuous pressure to achieve steep business targets while also struggling with staff shortages and frequent technical problems. According to the union, these circumstances have created an unhealthy and stressful working environment.

The letter highlighted a recent incident involving a Chief Manager who went missing, reportedly because of unbearable work pressure and a breakdown of work-life balance. The union said this case had deeply shaken the morale of employees across the country and warned that similar incidents could cause permanent harm to both staff and the bank’s reputation.
The association criticised what it described as “harsh treatment and humiliation” of officers during meetings with senior executives. While the bank claims “Respect” as one of its core values, the reality for many officers, the union argued, is very different. Being subjected to disrespectful behaviour, it said, destroys self-esteem, causes emotional distress, and weakens trust in the institution.
The letter called on the management to take immediate corrective measures. It asked executives to practise respect and dignity in every interaction, to set realistic business goals that reflect actual market conditions, and to place genuine importance on work-life balance. The association insisted that only a supportive and collaborative work environment would enable officers to stay motivated and contribute meaningfully to the bank’s growth.
It also warned that ignoring these issues any longer could lead to further tragedies and lasting damage to the institution’s credibility. If the situation does not improve, the association stated that it would be left with no option but to defend the dignity, mental health, and work-life balance of its members by all available means.
The Ernakulam Zone team of AIBOBOA has requested a detailed discussion with bank management at the earliest, stressing that the sustainable progress of the organisation depends on respect, empathy, and balance being practised at all levels.
