On 18th September 2025, a group of employees from Bank of Baroda (BoB) Burdwan Region filed a formal complaint against the Regional Manager and Deputy Regional Manager (DRM). The complaint, addressed to the MD & CEO at the Corporate Office in Mumbai, accuses the two officials of misconduct, harassment, and abusive behavior, which employees claim have created an unsafe and hostile work environment.
Use of Abusive Language
The complaint states that both RM and DRM have frequently used derogatory and humiliating language towards employees. Phrases such as “Doob maro” (Go drown yourself), “Suicide kar lo” (Go commit suicide), and “Besharam” (Shameless) were reportedly used in meetings. Such repeated instances of abusive remarks have allegedly led to mental stress and lowered staff morale.

Threat of Punitive Transfers
Employees have also alleged that they were frequently threatened with punitive transfers as a means of pressure and punishment. The complaint cites statements where employees were warned of being moved to undesirable postings if targets were not met.
Humiliation and Monitoring of Staff
The letter further alleges that staff members were humiliated by orders such as “Din bhar ka taral room ke bahar khara kar do” (Keep the staff standing outside all day). Another cited threat was, “Din saath GPS ke through ghooma karo – kaha jate hai, kya karte hai?” (Track employees through GPS to monitor movements). Employees claim such remarks created fear and pressure, making the workplace toxic.

Excessive Reporting Pressure
According to the complaint, employees were forced to submit daily reports, updates, and photographs beyond normal working requirements. This was allegedly done to intimidate staff and enforce excessive compliance, which employees described as harassment.
Workload and Targets
The complaint highlights that staff were being pressured with five to six additional meetings beyond business hours, along with unrealistic targets for schemes, recovery, and other branch performance metrics. Employees claimed this not only disrupted work-life balance but also created a highly stressful work atmosphere.
The letter states that unless urgent steps are taken to address these issues, the workplace has become toxic, unsafe, and unbearable for employees. It highlights that this has severely impacted staff morale, customer service, and overall productivity. The employees have therefore requested an immediate and independent inquiry into the conduct of the Regional Manager and Deputy Regional Manager.
