The All India Punjab National Bank Officers’ Federation (AIPNBOF) has announced a one-day nationwide strike on 10th October 2025. A formal strike notice has been served to the Punjab National Bank management and the Chief Labour Commissioner, under Section 22(1) of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947.

The federation has already given a strike notice for October 9. Read more here PNB Officers’ Federation to Go on Strike on 9th October Over Saturday Holiday Demand

The Federation said the strike on October 10 is specific to their bank and the key demands include:

  • Full reimbursement of perquisite tax, promised once PNB achieved quarterly operating profit above ₹7,000 crore.
  • Linking medical aid to 50% of current basic pay.
  • Restoration of maintenance allowance for staff quarters as assured during the amalgamation process.
  • Opposition to “digital confinement” of officers in branches beyond working hours.
  • Withdrawal of recent guidelines on threshold limits described as anti-staff and anti-customer.
  • Regular structured meetings with Circle, Zonal, and Head Office management.
  • Equal treatment of all officers’ associations in facilities like leave and office space.

The Federation has also attached a copy of the Government of India’s gazetted notification on amalgamation in support of its claims.

If the strike proceeds, services at Punjab National Bank branches across India may be affected.

Why PNB Officers Are Forced to Strike The federation said this decision, though difficult, comes after repeated assurances by management have not been honoured.

Officers demand:

  • The bank must honour its word on 100% perquisite tax reimbursement, as profits have already crossed the promised threshold.
  • Medical aid must be revised in line with current basic pay, not outdated structures.
  • Staff quarters maintenance should be reimbursed as earlier, a facility guaranteed during amalgamation by the Government of India.
  • Officers should not be subjected to illegal digital confinement in branches after hours.
  • Circulars introducing new threshold limits must be withdrawn as they harm not only officers but also customers and the bank’s business.
  • Structured dialogue with management should be restored at all levels to ensure healthy industrial relations.
  • Officers’ associations should be treated fairly and equally, without discrimination in leave or access to facilities.

The strike is not against the bank or its customers, but a call for justice, dignity, and fair treatment for officers who are the backbone of Punjab National Bank.
