The All India We Bankers Association (AIWBA) held its first online meeting of newly elected office bearers on 29 September under the chairmanship of National President Hemant Sharma. The meeting focused on expanding the organisation's reach, launching a membership drive, addressing industry disputes, and strengthening coordination among state and regional units.

The session was attended by top national leaders, including United Forum of We Bankers National Convenor Kamlesh Chaturvedi, National General Secretary Deval Mishra, Vice Presidents Venumadhav Dondgallipelli, Akhil Mehrotra, and Hiralal Mandwal, Deputy General Secretaries, and Executive Members representing different states and banking institutions across the country.

Key Appointments and Decisions
During the meeting, the leadership introduced newly elected state and bank representatives and allocated specific roles and responsibilities to streamline organisational work. Several State In-Charges and Co-In-Charges were announced:
Andhra Pradesh In-Charge: Venumadhav Dondgallipelli
Haryana Co-In-Charge: Hiralal Mandwal & Shikha Gupta
Chhattisgarh Co-In-Charge: Amit Tony & Melvin Aloshiar
Delhi In-Charge: Nitish Kumar Tiwari
Uttarakhand Co-In-Charge: Abdul Kamal & Manish Chauhan
Gujarat In-Charge: Vivek Bahadur Shrestha

The National President urged leaders to focus on membership expansion, organisational discipline, and welfare initiatives for bankers nationwide.

Launch of “Bankers Connect Yatra”
To strengthen its presence in metro cities and large towns, the Association announced the launch of “Bankers Connect Yatra,” a nationwide campaign aimed at connecting bankers and inspiring collective action. Mayank Sharma (National Assistant General Secretary) was appointed as the Brand Ambassador of the campaign. The initiative will be kicked off from Rajasthan, led by senior leaders Akhil Mehrotra, Hemant Sharma, Prem Chaudhary, Dinesh Gehlot, and others, before expanding to other states.

Formation of a Dedicated Legal Team
Recognising the need to address disputes arising under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, the Association approved the formation of a specialised legal team. The team will be headed by Kamlesh Chaturvedi, supported by Hemant Sharma, Khushal Chandra Singh, Manmohan Yadav, and Shefali Jain. This legal wing will represent the Association in labor and banking disputes and will be given general authority, enabling them to act swiftly without repeated approvals.

Nationwide Membership Drive
Senior National Deputy General Secretary Shapali Jain, along with Deval Mishra, will spearhead a nationwide membership expansion strategy. The initiative will bring together leaders from Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, and other regions to grow the Association’s grassroots base. States such as Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana will play a pivotal role in the initial phase of this drive.

Focus on Bankers’ Welfare
The meeting highlighted growing challenges faced by bankers, including increased workloads, compliance pressures, and work-life balance concerns. The Association emphasised its commitment to protecting employee rights, raising industry-wide issues, and negotiating with management and regulators on behalf of its members.

Future for the Welfare of Bankers
Concluding the meeting, National President Hemant Sharma congratulated all newly elected office bearers and encouraged them to work unitedly for the welfare of bankers across India. On behalf of Team We Bankers, he expressed confidence that the new leadership would drive positive change and build a stronger, more connected Association.

According to the office bearers, this meeting sets the tone for an active year ahead, with legal advocacy, grassroots mobilisation, and membership growth at the forefront of AIWBA’s agenda.
