The Rajasthan Marudhara Gramin Bank Officers Union and Rajasthan Marudhara Gramin Bank Karmchari Union have announced their plans to commence a year-long celebration marking the Golden Jubilee (50th year) of the formation of Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) on October 2, 2024. The unions plan a series of events, including seminars, marches, and service-related activities throughout the year until October 2, 2025.

In a joint letter dated September 28, 2024, the AIRRBEA affiliated unions outlined their agenda to hold seminars, meetings, and other programs at various RRB headquarters, and even at district levels, to commemorate this milestone. The AIRRBEA leadership has advised that these celebrations should not only highlight the accomplishments of RRBs but also focus on their relevance to rural banking, as the institutions cater to more than 40 crore customers across rural India.

Grand Inauguration Event on October 2, 2024

To kick off the Golden Jubilee celebrations, the unions of Rajasthan Marudhara Gramin Bank and Baroda Rajasthan Kshetriya Gramin Bank plan to hold a grand seminar at Gandhi Nagar in Bhilwara, where a march to the Gandhi statue will be followed by a garlanding ceremony to honour the Mahatma. This event is slated to be attended by several dignitaries and local leaders, with a focus on rallying public support for key demands from the unions.

As per the circular, implementation of the  One State - One RRB and formation of a National Rural Bank of India are a few crucial demands that would be raised by the unions.

The letter concludes with a strong appeal to all union members to make the Golden Jubilee campaign a success by attending the scheduled programs in large numbers. It emphasised the opportunity for RRB employees to voice their concerns and actively participate in shaping the future of rural banking in India.

Key Agenda for the Campaign:

  • Demand for the formation of the National Rural Bank of India (NRBI).
  • Implement One State - One RRB.
  • Immediate revision of the promotion policy.
