The All India Bank of Baroda Officers’ Union (AIBOBOU) has written to the Managing Director & CEO of Bank of Baroda (BoB) raising concerns about what they describe as non-transparent practices within the HR Department, particularly in relation to promotions from Scale IV and above. The Union states that sudden promotion messages circulated among employees created confusion and a sense of secrecy.

Union Questions Promotion Process
According to the letter, AIBOBOU expresses surprise at the allegation that the HR Department has cleared a “non-existent and unpublished” waiting list for Scale IV promotions.
The Union states that no such waiting list was ever published or communicated and highlights that if such a list existed, it should have been shared through proper channels to maintain transparency.

Allegations of Sudden Promotion Communication
The Union states that officers started receiving WhatsApp messages claiming they had been promoted to Scale IV, with many referring to the message as “post-Diwali gifts”. They describe the situation as disappointing, especially as the promotions appeared to be informed through unofficial channels, rather than through formal communication.

Concerns About Secrecy and Internal Pressure
The letter mentions what the Union refers to as a “James Bond style” approach within HR processes. They state that the lack of transparency and sudden decisions have created stress among officers. According to the Union, employees are experiencing fear, pressure, and reduced morale due to unclear communication.

Call for Leadership Intervention
The Union has appealed to the top management to focus on fairness in transfers and transparency in promotions. They believe that implementing even a few improvements will restore trust and enhance workplace morale.

AIBOBOU  has requested immediate intervention from Bank of Baroda’s leadership to ensure clarity, transparency, and consistency in HR decision-making. The letter states that transparent processes will help rebuild confidence and improve the overall work environment for officers.
