According to the letter, the All India Overseas Bank Employees Union has issued a strike call for 1 and 2 December 2025, pressing for adequate recruitment of clerical and substaff. The UFBU notes that the union has been observing agitational programmes and raising these demands for a long time, as many branches are facing an acute shortage of staff. The letter highlights that this situation has increased work pressure and affected customer service.

The communication also presents data showing a continuous decline in clerical and substaff numbers from 2017 to 2024, even as the bank’s business has grown significantly during the same period. The UFBU states that the recruitment indents placed with IBPS have been inadequate and that there has been no recruitment of substaff or security staff in recent years, leaving several branches without even one substaff member.

In the letter, the UFBU urges the bank’s management to intervene and find an amicable and mutually acceptable resolution to the pending issues. It also conveys that the forum extends full support to the union’s agitational programmes and will express solidarity through fraternal initiatives if the concerns remain unresolved.
