In a major relief for 143 casual workers, Bangiya Gramin Vikash Bank (BGVB) has officially withdrawn its earlier order terminating their services. The move follows sustained appeals from AIRRBEA affiliated Bangiya Gramin Vikash Bank Officers’ Association (BGVBOA) and intervention from senior management, ensuring reinstatement of the affected staff.

Bank Recalls Termination Order

Referring to its earlier communication dated April 19, 2025, BGVB’s Head Office issued a directive recalling the termination notice.

The notification read, “After careful consideration of the issues involved and in the wake of the upcoming amalgamation, the Bank has decided to recall the aforementioned letter in its entirety with immediate effect. The Bank, in its firm commitment to fairness, empathy, and due process, has unconditionally withdrawn the letter.”

All directives from the previously issued termination order have been nullified, and regional managers have been instructed to ensure strict compliance and communicate the decision across all concerned branches.

Officers’ Union Welcomes Decision, Expresses Gratitude

The BGVBOA responded with a formal letter of thanks to the Bank’s Chairman, appreciating the management’s compassionate approach. In the letter, General Secretary Tarun Chakraborty stated, “We are delighted and deeply gratified that the impugned retrenchment order has been withdrawn through your kind and magnanimous intervention. It restores the dignity and livelihoods of those who have long served the Bank with dedication.”

The association further urged the management to now proactively address the long-standing issue of regularising casual workers, expressing readiness to cooperate in efforts toward a fair and empathetic resolution.

The revocation marks a positive turn for BGVB’s workforce, reinforcing the importance of humane considerations amid trade union’s persistent efforts.
