As part of the Government of India’s “One State One RRB” initiative, the three Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) operating in West Bengal—Bangiya Gramin Vikash Bank (BGVB), Paschim Banga Gramin Bank (PBGB), and Uttar Banga Kshetriya Gramin Bank (UBKGB)—have been officially amalgamated to form a single entity: West Bengal Gramin Bank.

In a circular dated April 24, 2025, the Head Office of the anchor bank issued detailed instructions on brand transition, signage updates, and interim measures to ensure operational continuity while the new bank's identity is formalized.

Interim Branding Strategy: Rubber Stamps and Flex Banners

While the final logo of the newly amalgamated bank is still under design, branches are required to begin public-facing rebranding immediately. According to the circular, branches must:

  • Display a temporary 6 ft. x 3 ft. flex banner with the name “West Bengal Gramin Bank” over their existing signage.
  • Use rubber stamps reading “Now ‘West Bengal Gramin Bank’” on all old stationery including cheque books, withdrawal slips, and challans.
  • Replace stamps such as “Cash Received” and “Cash Paid” with new versions bearing the bank’s unified name.

These instructions will take effect starting May 1, 2025, the official date of amalgamation.

Emphasising Compliance

The circular, addressed to all regional and branch managers, emphasized prompt compliance, “To comply with the new branding guidelines and to ease the day-to-day business, it is mandatory to display the banner in the name of new bank and also stamp the name of the new bank on all old stationery items from 1st May 2025 onwards.”

It also noted that this move is aimed at cost-effective use of existing resources while reinforcing the identity of the new entity in the public domain.

Gradual Rollout Until Logo Finalisation

The bank’s communication clarifies that the interim branding will remain in place until the official logo is finalised and new stationery is printed. Until then, all branches are expected to fully utilise old stocks using the prescribed stamp format.

The move marks a critical step in the practical rollout of the One State One RRB policy in West Bengal and signals the beginning of a unified banking identity aimed at improved rural financial delivery and operational efficiency.

Assurance for Customers During Transition

As per an official customer notice issued by the bank, all existing services of Bangiya Gramin Vikash Bank, Paschim Banga Gramin Bank, and Uttar Banga Kshetriya Gramin Bank will continue uninterrupted under the newly amalgamated entity—West Bengal Gramin Bank—starting May 1, 2025.
