Baroda UP Bank Officers’ Association Flags Harassment, Transfer Issues at Prayagraj General Body Meeting

The Baroda UP Bank Officers’ Association (Prayagraj region) held a general meeting to express concerns over alleged harassment and irregular transfer practices by the Regional Manager. Key issues raised included the use of abusive language, undue pressure on staff, and violations of the bank’s established transfer policies.

A general body meeting of the Baroda UP Bank Officers’ Association (Prayagraj unit) was held  on 22 June 2025 in Prayagraj. The event saw significant participation from officers posted in rural branches under the Prayagraj zone. The gathering focused on voicing serious concerns about the conduct of regional authorities and the growing stress among officers.

Tributes and Formal Opening of the Session
The session began with homage to late AIRRBEA founding leader Dilip Mukherjee, with a floral tribute offered at his portrait. The formal opening was marked by ceremonial lamp lighting. Notable attendees included:

Widespread Concerns Against RM and Regional Office
Officers strongly criticised the Regional Manager (RM) and regional office staff for what they described as unprofessional and intimidating behavior. Specific complaints included:

  • Harsh language and abusive words used by the RM and senior staff.
  • Forcing officers to submit unnecessary written explanations.
  • Using "2–3 line memos" as tools of pressure and threat.
  • Issuing transfers arbitrarily, without consulting norms or justifying the mov
  • Violating bank directives by transferring officers inappropriately.

New Body Elected, Vows to Fight Harassment and Uphold Officers’ Dignity
At the recently held general body meeting of the Baroda UP Bank Officers’ Association, Vinay Agrahari, Regional President, and Anil Singh, Regional General Secretary, were elected as part of the new leadership team to represent officers across the region. The members pledged to intensify their efforts in addressing staff grievances and ensuring dignity at the workplace.

Referring to the earlier incident involving the Regional Manager’s alleged misbehaviour towards branch staff, the association reiterated its commitment to stand firmly against any form of harassment or authoritarianism within the bank.

Vinay Agrahari, the elected President, BUPBOA strongly asserted, “We will never compromise on our self-respect.” He added that the new team is fully prepared to fight for officers’ rights and ensure accountability at all levels of management.

The association emphasised that any unjust conduct by higher authorities will be met with united resistance, and that the collective voice of officers will continue to grow stronger in the face of challenges.

Central Leaders Express Solidarity
According to the delegates, Baroda UP Bank Officers Association Central President Rajesh Khatri, while addressing the gathering, assured members that the central committee will always stand shoulder to shoulder with the regional committee. He stated that in no situation will the harassment of any member be tolerated.

Transfer Policy Reform and Alternate Options
Central General Secretary Vikram Kumar Shrivastav informed members about the steps being taken at the central level and stated that alternate options for executive transfers are under consideration. He updated members on the union’s ongoing efforts regarding this issue.

Resolution Passed with Warning of Protest
The association unanimously passed a resolution condemning the conduct of regional office officials and branch managers. The resolution demanded timely corrective measures to address the officers’ concerns. It also warned that if the issues are not resolved in the near future, the association may initiate a protest movement.

The general meeting of Baroda UP Bank Officers’ Association in Prayagraj brought forth a range of concerns related to staff treatment and transfer practices. A resolution was passed seeking timely redressal, with union leaders ensuring members of continued support. The association has indicated that further action may be considered if the issues raised remain unaddressed.
