The All India Bank of Baroda Officers’ Association (AIBOBOA) held an important meeting with the bank’s top management on July 23, 2025, at the Corporate Office. The meeting was attended by Hon’ble MD & CEO Sh. Deba Dutta Chand, respected ED Sh. Lal Singh, and some CGMs. The agenda focused on reshaping workplace conditions, reducing operational stress, and enhancing the well-being of officers. The association was also given assurance that the discussed reforms would be implemented by August 15, 2025.

Limited Meetings and Regulated Follow-ups

The AIBOBOA circular dated 24th July 2025 states that all team meetings with branches will be held only between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM, and ideally limited to 2–3 meetings per week. It also mentions that corporate verticals will no longer conduct meetings directly with branches.

Additionally, the circular specifies that telephonic instructions and follow-ups will be streamlined — only one person from the Regional Office will make calls on behalf of all departments, and such calls will be restricted to three per day.

Regulation of Campaigns and Officer Protection

The circular further outlines that a committee at the Corporate Office will be formed to regulate all campaigns run by various verticals. At any given time, no more than 5–6 campaigns will be active. Campaigns initiated by Regional and Zonal Offices will also be subject to this regulation.

It also notes that the bank will adopt a zero-tolerance policy against abusive or threatening behavior by controlling heads. Executives found indulging in such conduct will be dealt with strictly.

Emphasis on Compliance and Ethical Conduct

As per the circular, only compliance-oriented business will be permitted. Officers will not be subjected to pressure for achieving business targets that compromise regulatory or ethical standards. The bank has also assured that no officer will be forced to engage in mis-selling of third-party products or violate compliance norms.

Additionally, the circular states that zero tolerance will be practiced regarding misbehaviour and the use of abusive or threatening language by controlling heads. Such executives will be sternly dealt with by the bank.

Recruitment Measures to Address Staff Shortages

To address the growing concern of staff shortage, the bank informed the association that it has already initiated the recruitment of 5,000 personnel, including 2,500 local bank officers. A sample survey will also be conducted across all zones—rural, semi-urban, urban, and metro—in collaboration with AIBOBOA representatives to assess staffing needs based on branch type and location.

Call for a Dignified and Motivated Workforce

The circular reflects AIBOBOA’s firm stance that a fear-driven environment hampers performance. It highlights that business growth is only possible through a motivated and respected workforce. The association made it clear that any form of humiliation, misbehaviour, or abuse will be opposed collectively.

Positive Outlook from Both Sides

The meeting concluded on a positive note. The top management assured a more humane approach going forward. In return, AIBOBOA affirmed that despite reduced meetings and lesser follow-up calls, officers would continue to perform with dedication and help the bank grow above the industry average—aligned with the “Grow with the Bank” philosophy.

AIBOBOA also expressed hope that the recent loss of officer Shivshankar Mitra would not go in vain, and that if all serving officers get relief, it would give great solace to the departed soul.
