Bank of Baroda Officers’ Association Hyderabad Zone has lodged a complaint against the Regional Manager (RM) of Hyderabad Metro Region, accusing him of unethical behaviour towards his subordinates. The Association has written a letter to the General Manager of BOB Hyderabad Zone, urging action against the alleged misconduct.
According to the letter, the RM is accused of intimidating and yelling at employees, which is deemed as a suppression of self-respect and a violation of human rights. The union claims to have previously brought this matter to the attention of the GM without any action being taken.

Allegations outlined in the letter include the RM conducting an average of three review meetings per week during peak business hours, causing stress and demotivation among Branch Heads. Allegedly, this has led to a lack of enthusiasm among staff to take up Branch Head positions.
Additionally, the RM is accused of refusing leave requests from Branch Heads and reprimanding them for emergency absences. The union alleges that the RM pressures branches to approve loans against bank guidelines and insists on gold loans under Agriculture portfolios without proper verification.
Moreover, the letter alleges favouritism in transfer and posting decisions and highlights concerns over potential fraud in Self-Help Group (SHG) loans. The union has called for an inquiry into these matters by the General Manager of Hyderabad Zone.
This complaint follows recent incidents in the banking sector, including a viral video showing inappropriate behaviour by a Canara Bank manager during an online meeting and the suspension of an HDFC Bank officer for abusive conduct in June 2023. These incidents have fueled outrage on social media, with calls for addressing systemic issues such as target pressure, excessive workload, and lack of work-life balance in the banking industry.
Banking community voices on social media emphasise the need for addressing such concerns to maintain a healthy working environment in the sector. The Bank of Baroda and relevant authorities are expected to investigate the matter impartially and take appropriate action in response to the complaint.
