The indefinite strike to take place on June 25 in the Bank of Baroda sponsored Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) has been deferred for a brief period of time. Joint Forum of Unions in Baroda UP Bank, Baroda Rajasthan Kshetriya Gramin Bank and Baroda Gujarat Gramin Bank met the Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner (CLC), Ministry of Labour, Government of India on June 24, citing unaddressed concerns pertaining to the respective RRBs.
The conciliation meet went on for the day that resulted into an immediate review of the unresolved issues like recruitment freeze for the last four years, promotion policy, etc. As per the inputs of the meeting, the Joint Forum clearly mentioned that the BoB sponsored RRBs despite being in profit and a growthful business, are lagging heavily on the recruitment front with thousands of positions lying vacant.

The next conciliation meeting is scheduled to take place on July 2, 2024. So, on the persistent appeal of Dy CLC, the joint forum of unions decided to postpone the strike call till next proceedings.
In the recent past, the Bank of Baroda sponsored Gramin banks have witnessed a degree of unrest over critical issues of pending recruitment and disparity treatment of the bank workforce.
