The Coordination Committee of Kerala Gramin Bank Employees’ Union (KGBEU) and Kerala Gramin Bank Officers’ Union (KGBOU) has issued a strike notice for 25 November 2025, demanding immediate action on pending service and operational concerns. Both unions are affiliated to the All India Regional Rural Bank Employees Association (AIRRBEA).

Key Demands
According to the circular released by the Coordination Committee, the employees are seeking the full implementation of the 12th Bipartite Settlement (BPS) and 9th Joint Note. They have also demanded that the bank hold joint conferences with authorised organisations within a fixed timeframe and take action against officials who fail to cooperate.

Other major demands include withdrawal of what the unions termed “unscientific accountability” measures that allegedly threaten employees and could disrupt the functioning of the bank. The unions have also raised concerns about the current transfer policy and urged management to address issues related to poor connectivity and digital transactions on a priority basis.

The staff have also called for pay fixation in line with Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) guidelines and sought to end excessive pressure on employees to promote third-party products and social security schemes instead of focusing on core banking operations. Additionally, they urged the management to stop the practice of holding online meetings during business hours, which they say affects regular work.

Unions Justify Strike
In a joint statement, Bigesh Unniyan, General Secretary of KGBEU, and Rajesh P, General Secretary of KGBOU, stated that the demands raised by the employees and officers were “completely legitimate.” The committee called on all staff of Kerala Gramin Bank to join the agitation until their demands are met.

Conciliation Meeting Scheduled
Meanwhile, the management has convened a conciliation meeting with representatives of the employees’ and officers’ unions on 06 November 2025, Thursday. The outcome of the meeting is expected to determine whether the proposed strike will go ahead as planned.
