The year 2025 marks the Golden Jubilee of Regional Rural Banks (RRBs), celebrating fifty years of dedicated service to India’s rural economy. To honour this milestone, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), in partnership with the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, Government of India, is organising a special national event in New Delhi.

A Grand Celebration in Delhi
The celebration is planned to take place at Bharat Mandapam, Delhi, between 2nd and 5th October 2025. The final date will be confirmed by the DFS. The event will be attended by the senior-most political leaders of India, along with top bureaucrats from various departments, reflecting the importance of RRBs in the nation’s financial landscape.
The day-long programme will highlight the journey of RRBs over five decades, their consistent growth, and their vital contribution to strengthening the rural economy. It will be both a knowledge-sharing and commemorative platform.
Role of Regional Rural Banks
Each RRB has been asked to take proactive steps to make the event successful. A nodal officer (Single Point of Contact) from each bank must be nominated immediately, with details such as name, designation, contact number, and email ID shared with NABARD.
The notification specified, the participation is also significant. For example, West Bengal Gramin Bank has been given a target of sending 100 participants. These may include Chairmen, Directors, senior managers, branch managers, and other officers. In addition, special focus has been placed on inviting women customers, as women’s empowerment through financial inclusion is a major priority for the Government of India.
Guidelines for Participation
According to the notification, the event involves high-level dignitaries, strict security measures will be followed. All participants will require QR-based security clearance, with NABARD providing the format for data collection. RRBs will need to finalise and share participant details within 3–4 days once the format is released.
It is noted that the NABARD will not cover lodging, boarding, or travel costs. These expenses will need to be borne by the banks themselves or their customers. Staff and participants must also be ready to stay overnight in Delhi if required.
A Tribute to Fifty Years of Service
According to the sources, this Golden Jubilee celebration is more than just a formal event; it is a recognition of the role RRBs have played in transforming rural India. From enabling access to banking for millions of villagers to supporting women entrepreneurs and small farmers, RRBs have been at the heart of rural development.
The reports indicate the upcoming celebration in Delhi will not only look back at this proud journey but also set the vision for the future—where stronger RRBs and cooperative institutions ensure smooth credit flow and greater financial inclusion for all.
