RRB Network Surpasses Commercial Banks
A senior official from Telangana Grameena Bank confirmed to Kanal that the bank’s branch network has now exceeded that of 10 commercial banks, solidifying its position as the most extensive government banking network in the state. With 923 operational branches, TGB stands as the second-largest government bank in Telangana, following the State Bank of India (SBI), which has 1,215 branches statewide.
“The ongoing amalgamation will further expand the bank’s reach, enhancing its ability to serve rural communities more effectively,” the official added. “With this process underway, TGB is also expected to open new branches in the coming months.”
A similar expansion of the RRB network is in progress across states like Bihar and others with multiple RRBs, with significant developments expected in the coming weeks. The Department of Financial Services (DFS) is set to issue a formal notification on the implementation of the One State, One RRB framework, paving the way for a more unified and extensive rural banking network.
