A series of posts on the internal women’s forum “Her Story, Her Voice” has drawn attention to State Bank of India’s (SBI) long-pending administrative and HR-related grievances. Women employees have used the platform to highlight issues such as unprocessed transfer requests, delayed service file movements, and lack of response to personal hardship cases.

According to several posts, some officers have been awaiting the transfer of their service records for months despite repeated follow-ups, affecting their ability to complete routine administrative tasks. Another employee shared that, despite high performance ratings and clean records, her promotion was not processed, while others with lower appraisals advanced.

Some contributors across multiple regions of India including Delhi, Mumbai, Thane, etc cited non-compliance with spousal posting guidelines, stating that couples were being posted at distances exceeding more than 1,800 kilometres, resulting in prolonged family separation. A few posts also referred to employees seeking transfers due to children’s medical or special needs, who reportedly received no response from HR even after multiple representations.

Several posts described HR as “non-communicative” or “unresponsive,” alleging that files remain pending for long durations. “It feels like the system has perfected the art of delay,” one officer commented.

The issues discussed on the platform point to wider challenges in staff welfare and administrative responsiveness. Employees expressed concern that while the institution continues to promote women’s empowerment through public initiatives and internal campaigns, operational and HR-level issues affecting women officers often remain unresolved for extended periods.

The internal discussions have also led to a broader debate within the organisation on the need for transparent communication, timely redressal mechanisms, and policy implementation in matters related to transfers and promotions.

Despite their concerns, many employees conveyed continued complaints in the institution’s systems and expressed hope that such issues would receive attention at appropriate levels of management.
