Banks Announce 22,281 Clerical Vacancies for 2026–27 Recruitment Cycle
Banks have increased their clerical recruitment indents for 2026–27. This includes revised numbers from multiple nationalised banks. Total clerk recruitment now stands at 22,281.

A recent circular issued by the All India Bank Employees’ Association (AIBEA) highlighted a significant rise in clerical recruitment indents submitted by Public Sector Banks (PSBs) for the upcoming 2026–27 cycle. The revised figures reflect additional manpower requirements and updated projections across nationalised banks and the State Bank of India (SBI).
Rise in Indents Submitted by Banks
According to the circular, banks have revised their earlier indents to the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS). The initial clerical indent numbers for nationalised banks increased from 10,277 to 13,533. This included a previously noted recruitment requirement of 6,589 clerks for the SBI.

Revisions by Bank of India and Union Bank of India
Two major banks - Bank of India and Union Bank of India,further raised their projected clerical vacancies. Bank of India increased its indent from 432 to 1,700, while Union Bank of India revised its number from 600 to 1,500. These updates contributed to a larger cumulative requirement across the sector.
Total Indent Reaches 22,281 Across Banks
With all 11 nationalised banks submitting updated figures, the total indent for nationalised banks stands at 15,701. Including SBI’s 6,589 vacancies, the overall clerical recruitment requirement for 2026–27 reaches 22,281 positions. AIBEA acknowledged the follow-up efforts made by staff unions in facilitating these updates.
