As the festival of Diwali approaches, the Uttar Pradesh Gramin Bank Employees’ Union (UPGBEU) has written to the bank’s chairman, urging him to ensure that all branches are supplied with fresh and clean currency notes of ₹10, ₹20, ₹50 and ₹100 denominations. The union’s letter highlights the growing demand for new notes among customers during the festive season and stresses the importance of timely availability.

Meeting Customer Expectations During Diwali
The letter explains that during Diwali, customers traditionally prefer to use new and clean currency notes for various religious, social and gifting purposes. Exchanging or gifting money in crisp new notes is considered auspicious and is seen as a symbol of prosperity. Hence, branches often face an increased demand for such notes at this time of year.
The union pointed out that providing new notes not only helps meet customer needs but also adds to their festive joy and satisfaction. It also reflects the bank’s commitment to customer-friendly services and cultural values.
Ensuring Smooth Bank Operations
The UPGBEU requested that the bank’s management ensure an adequate and timely supply of new currency notes to every branch. This, they said, would help avoid inconvenience to customers and ensure that the festival period runs smoothly without any shortage of fresh notes.
The union also suggested that a limited quantity of new notes be provided to bank employees themselves, so that they too can celebrate the festival and make use of the fresh notes for personal or family occasions.
Successful Arrangements in Previous Years
The letter reminded the management that Uttar Pradesh Gramin Bank has previously managed similar arrangements efficiently during Diwali and other important festivals. The system of supplying new notes in advance has helped branches maintain good customer relations and smooth operations. The union expressed confidence that this year too, the bank would continue this positive practice.
Union’s Appeal to the Management
In conclusion, the Uttar Pradesh Gramin Bank Employees’ Union appealed to the chairman to issue necessary directions to all branches to ensure a timely and sufficient supply of new currency notes. This, the union noted, would allow both customers and staff to celebrate the festival with satisfaction, while strengthening the bank’s reputation for efficient service and community care.
