AIRRBEA Karnataka Holds General Body Meeting Post Amalgamation

Karnataka Grameena Bank Employees Union and Officers’ Association holds first post-amalgamation General Body in Ballari, 1,200 members attend, elect new office bearers for unions.

The Karnataka unit of the All India Regional Rural Bank Employees Association (AIRRBEA) held its first General Body Meeting after the amalgamation of Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) in the state. The meeting, held in Ballari on September 13, 2025, brought together unions of employees and officers for an organisational revamp.

Strong Participation Across the State

More than 1,200 members participated in the meeting, underscoring the strength and unity of the workforce post-amalgamation. Following the merger, the combined strength of employees’ unions and officers’ associations has risen to over 4,800 members (3,116 officers and 1,692 employees).

Reports and Resolution Passed

After the inaugural session, delegate sessions began with reports presented by Kirthiraj Hidkal (erstwhile General Secretary, KAGBOA) and Rajendra Madkunti (erstwhile General Secretary, KAGBEU). Both reports, detailing organisational developments and activities, were approved by members. The meeting also ratified amendments to bylaws to align with the new unified structure.

Addressing the gathering, Hidkal told Kanal“As per AIRRBEA’s directives, we have decided to amalgamate the unions and associations of erstwhile entities. Guided by our state federation AKGBEF, the amalgamated General Body has been successfully conducted.”

The opening session was inaugurated by S Venkateshwar Reddy, Secretary General of AIRRBEA, who delivered the keynote address.

The event also marked a moment of gratitude, with KAGBEU and KAGBOA felicitating national and state leaders who recently retired on superannuation, recognising their contributions to the movement.

The meeting also elected new leadership for the unified associations:

    • President: Thimmanagouda Hatti
    • General Secretary: Sharangouda Biradar
       
  • Karnataka Grameena Bank Employees Union

    • President: Jagdish Kubet
    • General Secretary: Pradeep S.P.

The Karnataka General Body meeting follows similar exercises recently held by AIRRBEA units in RajasthanTamil NaduWest Bengal, and Bihar, reflecting the ongoing organisational restructuring of unions across the country in the wake of RRB amalgamations.
