The All India IDBI Officers’ Association (AIIDBIOA) has written to the top management of IDBI Bank regarding issues linked to workplace pressure, review meeting norms, and the alleged impact of these practices on officers’ well-being. The association has requested the bank to introduce clear guidelines, address administrative concerns, and ensure a balanced work environment for staff across various regions.

Concerns Raised Over Recent Officer Incidents
The association referred to recent incidents involving bank officers and expressed concern over the impact of workplace expectations on staff. It highlighted the need for timely inquiry and appropriate measures to ensure that employees are able to manage their roles without undue pressure.

Work Culture Issues Linked to Review Meeting Practices
According to the association, officers across several regions have raised concerns about the timing and frequency of review meetings. The letter mentions instances of meetings being conducted beyond regular working hours and during non-business time, creating strain for bank staff. The association stated that such practices were causing disturbance to personal time and essential responsibilities of officers.

Administrative Transfers and Policy Compliance
The letter also highlighted concerns regarding intra-zone transfer orders issued on administrative grounds. The association noted that some transfers appear to deviate from the bank’s approved transfer policy and may affect officers’ performance and stability.
It requested that transfer decisions be aligned with established guidelines to ensure fairness and consistency.

Reference to Guidelines Implemented by Other Banks
The communication referenced a Head Office Circular issued by another bank in 2025, which reiterated earlier guidelines on conducting online and offline review meetings. The association suggested that IDBI Bank should also issue its own circular to formalise similar norms for meetings and follow up interactions.

Union Demands for Protecting Officers’ Well-Being
The association outlined specific requests for immediate consideration, including a detailed and unbiased inquiry into recent incidents and the issuance of a Head Office Circular defining guidelines for review meetings.
The key recommendations include limiting online meeting timings, prohibiting meetings during business hours beyond approved limits, avoiding continuation after 6:30 PM, and ensuring review meetings are conducted without the use of abusive or intimidating language.

The AIIDBIOA has urged the bank’s leadership to take prompt action on the issues raised, emphasising the importance of officers’ well-being and adherence to clear administrative norms. The association hopes that the bank will consider these concerns and ensure measures that support a balanced and respectful work environment.
