An employee of IDBI Bank, identified as Rakesh Roshan, has reportedly died by suicide on November 24, 2025. According to the handwritten note recovered, he mentioned difficulty managing office pressure alongside family responsibilities.

A Pattern Reported Across Banks This Year
This incident comes at a time when bank employees from different institutions, including public sector, private, and regional rural banks, have been reporting rising stress and workload concerns. Several cases of severe stress-related health issues and self-harm have been highlighted in the media during 2025, indicating that such instances are not confined to any one bank or region.

What the Note Indicates
In the note, Rakesh Roshan reportedly stated that balancing work-related expectations with personal obligations had become overwhelming for him. He did not name any individual, nor did he make specific allegations.

English Translation of the Note (As Written)
“I, Rakesh Roshan, father’s name – Late Vidyanand Roshan, Hospital Road, Ward No. 06, Shastri Nagar, Bihar, currently working in IDBI Bank, submit that today, on 24/11/2025, Monday, I am ending my life of my own will.
There is no one responsible for my death.
But because of office pressure and family responsibilities, I am taking this step.”

Stress Concerns Raised in the Banking Sector
Across the banking industry, employees have been expressing concerns about increased workloadoperational pressures, and target-based expectations. Employee unions and staff associations have also submitted representations regarding staffing shortages and rising responsibilities in branches.

The IDBI incident adds to the ongoing discussion about workplace stress in financial institutions.

Support and Awareness
Mental health professionals underline the importance of early intervention, communication, and support systems, both within families and workplaces. Employees are encouraged to reach out to colleagues, friends, or helplines if they feel overwhelmed.

Experts note that timely conversations can be crucial in preventing distress from escalating.
