Baroda UP Bank Rolls Out Promotions Prior to RRB Amalgamation, Employees Welcome Move

Baroda UP Bank announces major staff promotions ahead of RRB amalgamation, boosting employee morale and aligning with career growth plans.

In a recent development, Baroda UP Bank management declared the promotion for cadres ranging from Office Assistants, Clerk to Scale 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. The decision comes before the official effective date of the amalgamation via One State One RRB policy. 

In an official directive date April 15, 2025, one the circular of the bank stated, “We are pleased to inform that the Board of Directors of our bank have approved the promotion exercise for the vacancies upto 31.03.2025 from Office Assistant (Multipurpose) Group B to Assistant Manager (Officer Junior Management Cadre/ Scale 1), Group A to be conducted in accordance with the Regional Rural Banks (Appointment of Officers and Employees) Rules, 2017. 

 

Cadre Promotion for Various Cadre

A total of 480 vacancies have been declared for promotion from Office Assistant (Multipurpose) to Officer Scale-I. Additionally, 380 vacancies have been opened for Officer Scale-I to Officer Scale-II promotions.

Further, 35 positions are available for promotion from Officer Scale-III to Scale-IV, and 8 vacancies from Scale-IV to Scale-V, both based entirely on merit through a combination of interview performance and appraisal reports.

Sources within Baroda UP Bank indicate that the promotion announcement has been widely welcomed across all sections of employees. The move is expected to significantly boost staff morale, especially as it comes at a crucial juncture ahead of the impending amalgamation.

Notably, Baroda UP Bank stands out as one of the few RRBs to announce promotions prior to the formal implementation of the “One State One RRB” policy—demonstrating proactive leadership and commitment to employee welfare amid structural reforms. 

 

Cadre Wise Promotion Details

Baroda U.P. Bank has released detailed figures highlighting its latest promotion exercise across various staff cadres. 

As of April 2025, the bank’s workforce is heavily concentrated in Scale I (3,031 staff) and Clerical (2,729 staff) levels, while higher scales like Scale IV and V remain lean with only 108 and 10 officers, respectively. In an encouraging move, the bank has announced a substantial number of promotion opportunities, with 480 seats available for promotion from Office Assistant to Officer (Scale I), 380 seats for Scale I to Scale II, and 310 seats for Scale II to Scale III. Smaller but notable openings include 35 seats for Scale III to Scale IV and 8 seats for promotion to Scale V.

The timely announcement of these promotions ahead of the formal rollout of the One State One RRB policy marks a significant step by Baroda UP Bank amid a major structural transition.
