A State Bank of India (SBI) official from Hyderabad Circle has highlighted a pressing issue to Kanal related to officer deployment at the Local Head Office (LHO) Hyderabad. The official stated that around 30 to 40 officers from Scale II to Scale V have not been provided with proper postings for several months, raising concerns about underutilisation of human resources.
Officers Attached Without Assignments
Speaking to The Kanal, the official said that many of these officers are either attached to different departments at LHO for miscellaneous tasks or are only marking attendance without being assigned meaningful work.

Shortage in Branches and Verticals
The concern also highlights that while officers remain idle at LHO, several branches and verticals are experiencing acute staff shortages. This imbalance has created a gap between available manpower and operational requirements. The official mentioned that this situation is disheartening, as officers remain underutilised despite the evident shortage in various units.
Adverse Effect on Business
The official also pointed out that non-deployment of officers can lead to loss of potential business opportunities running into crores, as adequate manpower is not being utilised in areas where it is needed most.
‘Risk of Losing Discipline and Career Growth’
The SBI Hyderabad Circle official stated that “Keeping officers without proper assignments for extended periods could lead to a loss of discipline and motivation. The absence of meaningful postings may adversely affect career progression, as officers are deprived of opportunities to handle responsibilities and showcase their abilities for future promotions.”
The concern raised by an SBI Hyderabad Circle official underlines the issue of officer deployment at LHO. While several branches and verticals face shortages, 30 to 40 officers remain without proper postings for months, raising questions about manpower utilisation and long-term implications for both staff and operations.
