SBI Staff Assaulted in Dhule by MNS Activist: UFBU Expresses Concern Over Bankers’ Safety

A customer-bank staff confrontation at State Bank of India’s Dhule branch escalated when Maharashtra Navnirman Sena activists allegedly slapped the staff and forced him to touch the customer’s feet—sparking widespread outrage. Bank employees are increasingly facing threats and attacks while doing their jobs. A recent incident at the State Bank of India’s (SBI)  Dhule branch has raised fresh concerns after a bank staff member was allegedly attacked by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activists following an argument with a customer. The issue involved a dispute over language and behavior, which quickly escalated. This has once again brought attention to the need for better safety measures for bankers across the country.

SBI Dhule Branch Incident
At the SBI Devpur branch in Dhule, a serious incident took place where a bank staff member was allegedly slapped by an MNS activist following an argument with a customer. The dispute reportedly began over a Marathi language-related misunderstanding and soon turned aggressive. The staff member was confronted by local activists, and the situation quickly became tense. The activists slapped the bank staff and made him touch the feet of the customer. This incident has once again raised serious concerns about the safety of bankers inside branch premises.

UFBU Reacts to Dhule Incident
The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) condemned the incident at SBI’s Dhule branch, where activists allegedly assaulted bank staff over a language dispute. In a social media post, UFBU questioned whether violence in banks over language pride is acceptable, calling the act intimidation rather than protection.
