Gujarat Gramin Bank Orders Staff Leave Restriction in Patan Region for Achieving Quarterly Targets

Gujarat Gramin Bank has restricted staff leave in its Patan Region branches. The decision was taken due to non-satisfactory branch performance and for achieving quarterly targets.

Gujarat Gramin Bank has issued a notice to all branch heads and staff under its Patan Region regarding the restriction on availing leave. The order, dated 29 August 2025, states that no leave of any kind will be sanctioned or availed up to September 30, 2025, except in cases of genuine exigency. The circular directs all staff members to strictly adhere to these instructions and warns that any deviation will be viewed seriously. The order comes into immediate effect.

Restriction on Leave
The circular mentions that the decision has been taken due to the non-satisfactory performance of branches in various business parameters. The bank has emphasised the need to focus on achieving targets for the quarter ending September 30, 2025.

Procedure for Leave Requests
Any request for leave during this period must be duly justified and will only be considered with prior consultation and approval of the competent authority. Further, if a leave request falls under the sanctioning powers of the Branch Head, it must also be intimated to the Regional Office before approval, to ensure proper relieving arrangements.

The circular restricting staff leave in Gujarat Gramin Bank’s Patan Region drew sharp criticism on Twitter (X). Users expressed concerns over harsh work conditions, lack of consideration for emergencies, and compared the policy unfavorably with practices in other banks.
