A new group health insurance product—Group Care-360 Wellness—has been rolled out for customers of Odisha Grameen Bank (OGM) by CARE Health Insurance. The plan, available in two variants, promises hospitalisation benefits, daily cash allowances, and free teleconsultations. However, recent internal messages, union advisories, and retired staff feedback suggest a growing divide between those encouraging the plan and those urging caution.

Union’s Caution to Members
The All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC) issued a message to its members, cautioning them against engaging in mis-selling or forced selling, even to fellow staff members. This advisory was issued in response to internal promotions of the insurance scheme, emphasising that all product sales must be voluntary and transparent.

Product Details Released
The CARE Health Insurance Group Care-360 Wellness plan is offered in two variants—Wellness-1 (₹490–₹2,450 annually) and Wellness-2 (₹670–₹3,350 annually)—covering up to six family members. Both variants provide daily hospitalisation allowances ranging from ₹500 to ₹2,000 per day, along with free teleconsultations.

Management’s Push for the Product
In an internal message, the Regional Manager compared the plan’s Rs. 670 starting premium to the cost of 1 kg of mutton, suggesting it was an affordable option for protecting five family members. The message urged staff to explore and experience the product benefits.

Concerns Raised Over Sales Pressure
Speaking to Kanal, OGB’s employee said, “Again undue and unwarranted pressure by repeat/habituated offender Regional Manager,  RO of OGB. Also you can see the review of retired staff members about the same insurance company. That’s why a union also cautioned its members about mis-sell or forced sell.”

The launch of CARE Health Insurance’s Group Care-360 Wellness plan at Odisha Grameen Bank has prompted a union advisory, criticism from retired staff, and internal messages encouraging promotion, reflecting varied responses within the bank’s ecosystem.
