An internal communication from the Jashipur Regional Office of Odisha Gramin Bank shows instructions to all branches under its jurisdiction to prioritise enrolments under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY). The order, sent on 12 September 2025, cites lagging progress and schedules saturation camps over the weekend of 13 and 14 September 2025.
Target Extended
The campaign’s original last date was 12 September 2025, but branches were urged to complete enrolment targets positively by 20 September 2025. Less than 25% of the allotted target had been achieved at the time of the instruction.

Urgent Drive
The message stressed the importance of treating the matter as urgent and taking the instruction in its true spirit. Branches were asked to utilise their resources fully to ensure maximum enrolments during the saturation camps and achieve the targets.
Social Media Reactions
Several social media users reacted strongly to the Odisha Gramya Bank issue, with many pointing out how unrealistic target pressure is hurting staff. Comments highlighted that premium-based schemes should be voluntary, yet employees are being pushed to meet numbers even on holidays. Users also questioned why urgent tasks are often scheduled only during weekends or breaks, adding that such practices ignore staff’s personal time. Overall, the reactions reflect growing concern about target-driven culture in banks and the need for a fair approach that balances customer service with employee well-being.

The push for saturation camps highlights the urgency with which Odisha Gramin Bank is driving enrolments under PMJJBY and PMSBY. While the schemes are designed to extend affordable insurance to rural populations, the pressure of meeting targets—especially through weekend drives—has raised concerns about staff welfare and work-life balance.
