UFBU Condemns Attack on Union Bank Manager in Jalna, Stages Protest

The United Forum of Bank Unions, Pune, staged a protest after a customer assaulted the Branch Manager at Union Bank’s Ramnagar Branch in Jalna.

The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), Pune, staged a protest in response to a reported assault on the Branch Manager at Union Bank’s Ramnagar Branch in Jalna. According to UFBU, the customer involved manhandled the Branch Manager, leading to immediate action and First Information Report (FIR) registration.

Details of the Jalna Incident 
The incident occurred on June 20, 2025 during branch hours at Union Bank’s Ramnagar Branch in Jalna, where a customer manhandled the Branch Manager. Immediate steps were taken by the Branch Manager and local representatives. An FIR was registered at Mantha Police Station under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 132, 121(1), 352, and 351(2).

Protest Held at Collector’s Office in Jalna
On 23rd June 2025, under the banner of UFBU, a strong protest was organised in front of the Collector’s Office, Jalna, to express outrage over the incident and demand strict action against the accused. During the protest, UFBU representatives also raised the demand for implementing a Bankers Protection Act to ensure the safety and security of banking staff.

UFBU Pune Assures Support and Follow-Up Action
Vitthal Mane, Convenor, UFBU Pune, and DS Gaikwad, General secretary, Union Bank ,Pune, told Kanal "We condemn this act and stand firmly with our affected colleague. We assure that further course of action will be pursued in coordination with UFBU Maharashtra to ensure such incidents are not repeated and that the safety and dignity of our members are upheld at all times. Let us remain united and vigilant against any form of misconduct towards our banking fraternity."

The Jalna branch incident and UFBU Pune’s protest have brought workplace safety concerns to the forefront. With an FIR registered and the matter being closely followed up by UFBU Maharashtra, the union continues to advocate for staff safety and dignity.
