The Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) of India have completed 50 years of dedicated service to rural communities across the country. To mark this important milestone, the All India Regional Rural Bank Employees Association (AIRRBEA) has written to the Hon’ble Finance Minister, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, requesting the release of a special commemorative coin and a postal stamp. NABARD in partnership with DFS and Ministry of Finance is organising a special national event in New Delhi to celebrate the significance of RRBs.

Golden Jubilee Celebrations
Since October 2, 2024, the AIRRBEA has been actively organising a series of events—seminars, meetings, and functions—to celebrate the Golden Jubilee year. The formal inauguration took place at Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, and was graced by Union Minister Shri Ram Mohan Naidu.
The Association’s 15th All India Conference was also held in February 2025 at Ballari, Karnataka, focusing on the theme of celebrating this 50-year journey. On this occasion, a special postal cover was released by the Postal Department to honour the contribution of RRBs.
Importance of RRBs
Over the past five decades, RRBs have played a vital role in extending banking services to rural and semi-urban areas. They now serve more than 40 crore customers across India, proving to be a strong pillar of rural development and financial inclusion.
The Request
In their letter, the Association highlighted that the release of a commemorative coin and postal stamp would be a fitting recognition of RRBs’ achievements. Such an honour would not only celebrate the past but also inspire continued commitment towards rural development and inclusive banking in the future.
Honouring the Journey
The Association highlights that the Golden Jubilee of RRBs is more than just an anniversary—it is a tribute to five decades of service, growth, and dedication. A commemorative coin and postal stamp would serve as lasting symbols of the RRBs’ invaluable contribution to India’s financial landscape.
